From mid-April to mid-October the hydrofoils to Capri fill up easily and there can be long lines at the departure ports. We recommend booking tickets in advance.

Each additional bag costs EUR 2.

Ferries to Ischia
Ferries run from Naples to Ischia all year round, including on Sundays.

From April through October, ferries run quite frequently; from November through March, there are fewer departures. To view schedules, click the "Book now" button and enter the your dates.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the port.
We recommend you book your tickets in advanced if traveling on holidays or a weekend between April and October, especially Sunday afternoon when ferries often fill returning from Ischia to Naples.
Discounts and Supplements
Children under 2 ride free; children 2-12 have discounted tickets.
There is a supplement of EUR 2 for each piece of luggage larger than standard hand luggage.
Bicycles can be taken on board by paying a supplement.
Port for ferries from Naples to Ischia
Hydrofoils to Ischia depart from Molo Beverello; regular ferries from Calata Porta di Massa. There are ticket windows at both piers for all ferry companies. There is about 1 km between the two piers, and the free Alibus shuttle runs between them.
Getting to Molo Beverello
Taxi: there is a fixed fare of EUR 21 from the Capodichino airport and EUR 15 from the Napoli Piazza Garibaldi train station.
Bus: The Alibus shuttle bus from the Capodichino airport and Piazza Garibaldi.
Metro: line 1 “Municipio” stop and then 100 meters on foot.
Getting to Calata Porta di Massa
Taxi: there is a fixed fare of EUR 21 from the Capodichino airport and EUR 15 from the Napoli Piazza Garibaldi train station.
Bus: The Alibus from the Capodichino airport and Piazza Garibaldi.
Metro: line 1 “Università” stop and then 650 meters on foot.
Arrival port on Ischia for ferries from Naples
Almost all ferries from Naples arrive at Ischia Porto; some continue on to Forio. There are also routes that arrive at Casamicciola Terme without stopping first at Ischia Porto. Check your arrival destination carefully when booking your ticket!
Should I book a hydrofoil or ferry?
Hydrofoil
Faster: it takes about an hour from Naples to Ischia.
More frequent: there are departures about every 30 minutes in the peak hours of the day.

Slower than hydrofoils: 1.5 hours.
When there are rough season, hydrofoils are cancelled more often than ferries.
Embarking Vehicles for Ischia
You can embark vehicles from Naples on Caremar and Medmar ferries departing for Calata di Massa. From April to October, residents of the region of Campania cannot take vehicles to Ischia.
It's a good idea to book tickets for embarking your vehicle in advance so you can exit from the A1 highway and follow the "Napoli Porto" signs to pass the Bausan entrance directly and avoid traffic.
To reach the Calata di Massa pier from the center of the city, take the Pisacane entrance on Via Marina.
You can also embark your vehicle at the Pozzuoli port, avoiding the traffic in the center of Naples.

The fastest ferry, or hydrofoil, takes about an hour, while regular ferries take approximately 1.5 hours to reach Ischia from Naples.

Can you visit both Ischia and Procida in the same day?
Yes, it's possible to visit both islands in one day, but we recommend spending at least a full day on Procida. Visiting Procida in one day.

How many bags can I take on the ferry?
One piece of hand luggage weighing up to 10 kg is included in your ticket. Every additional bag costs EUR 2 and there is no limit to the number of bags you can take.
If I book online but miss the ferry, can I take the next one?

How long in advance to I need to book a ferry?
We suggest booking a few weeks in advance for the best options for times. Schedules vary according to season.
I saw a departure in the ferry schedule, but it's not listed on the booking page. Why?
Either that ferry is not available on the date you selected, or cannot be booked online. Some ferry companies do not accept online bookings.
Can I bring a bike on the ferry?
Yes, you can bring a bike on the ferry by paying an extra fee.
Is there a luggage deposit on Ischia?
Yes, there are a number of places where you can deposit your bags at Ischia Porto.
How can I get from the cruise ship port to the ferry port?
The two ports are quite close, so you can simply walk about 200 meters to the left (facing the island) toward the Maschio castle.
Can I purchase a ticket at the ticket window the day I travel?
Yes, you can always purchase ferry tickets at the ticket window until just a few minutes before departure, if tickets are still available.
Can I purchase tickets with a credit card?
Yes, you can pay with a credit card at all the ferry ticket windows.
When are schedules for the following season published?
Click "book now" and put in the date you are interested in and you can check if there is a schedule for your dates. Remember that after March, additional routes are added for the summer high season.
Are there ferries to Ischia all year round?
Yes, from there are ferries that run from Naples and Pozzuoli all year.
What happens if the weather is bad? Do ferries still run?
If there are high winds and choppy seas, ferries can be cancelled. This happens more often in winter; it happens very rarely in summer.
Are there special group prices?
Yes, for groups of 20 or more people, there are discounts. Contact the ferry company directly for details.
If my flight arrives in the evening, can I make it to Ischia on the same day?
The last ferry departs between 9 and 10PM; if you are arriving very late, you will have to book a private boat transfer.
Where can I park my car on the mainland before taking the ferry to Ischia?
There are a number of guarded pay parking lots near the port.
How long in advance to I need to book a ferry?
You can book a ferry online until the day before departure.
Can I take my car to Ischia?
You can bring your car on Ischia all year, as long as you are not a resident of the region of Campania (except residents of Ischia), who cannot take vehicles on the island from April through October. There are no such limits for residents of other countries or regions.
How much time should I factor in between when my flight arrives and when I book a ferry for Ischia?
At least an hour, but better to leave 1.5 to 2 hours of time to catch your ferry.
Can I take a day trip to Ischia from Rome?
To get to Ischia from Rome, consider about 3 to 4 hours of travel time. We do not recommend Ischia as a day trip from Rome.
Can I rent a scooter on Ischia?
If you are already a confident rider, renting a scooter is a great way to see Ischia. You can avoid the crowded public transportation during the busiest times of day in summer and get around in complete freedom without getting stuck in traffic. There are a number of scooter rental agencies on the island, and you don't need to book in advance.
How long is the ferry ride from Naples to Ischia?
Depending on what type of vessel you’re taking, your journey will last anywhere from 40 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes. If you opt for a slow ferry, you’ll enjoy a smooth journey that can be both relaxing and entertaining, as Ischia’s stunning coastline provides endless sights along the way. If time is of the essence, hydrofoils provide a slightly faster ride of approximately 40 minutes.
Do I need to book ferry from Naples to Ischia in advance?
The ferries from Naples to Ischia are quite frequent, but it is advisable to book the ticket in advance in the months of July and August, on summer weekends and if you are traveling on holidays and long weekends. We recommend booking even if you are traveling with a car or with a large group.
Can you take your car on ferry to Ischia?
In autumn and winter, it is always possible to travel on the ferries to Ischia with your car. In high season (more or less from Easter to the end of summer) disembarking by car is only allowed to those who do not reside in the Campania region (and it is not recommended due to the heavy traffic). If you are traveling by car, it is always preferable to book your ticket in advance.
Is there a ferry from Ischia to Capri?
The direct line of ferries between Ischia and Capri is active only from April to October. The journey takes just under an hour and the connections are daily (several departures are available throughout the day).
How long is the ferry from Sorrento to Ischia?
The Sorrento to Ischia ferry time varies between 45 minutes and 60 minutes, depending on the company you're traveling with and the weather conditions.
Where does the ferry drop you off in Ischia?
There are three ports in Ischia: the main one, with more connections during the day, is that of Ischia Porto, which is located in one of the liveliest areas of the island, with restaurants, clubs and shops. The bus terminus is also located in the Ischia Porto area.
The other ports of Ischia are located in the municipalities of Casamicciola Terme and Forio.
How long is the ferry from Positano to Ischia?
The ferry trip between Ischia and Positano takes just under two hours. Times may vary slightly depending on sea conditions.
