History, Art and Memorable Views!

First time in Ischia, I stayed for 4 nights and here is my experience: What I liked: * I loved the historicity of the place and the fact its former use was a monastery * Location and views are from the best you can take in Ischia * Hotel within a monument and a place of interest so in the public spaces you mix with visitors - for instance in the cafe between hotel's entrance and the lift that takes you up from Ponte. * Art is everywhere * Minimal demure decoration * Very good breakfast with fresh products, good combination of savoury and sweet choices. Every day the menu changes slightly and I consider this a big plus * I've heard their dinner at restaurant is one of the best but I didnt try it * Trained and professional personnel that communicates well in English. Particular mention to Joseph & Fransesco who helped me at my arrival. Loved the fact that personnel wears uniforms and the shirts are linen. What I didn't like: * Lack of in room fridge and convenience store in walking distance, hotel should provide water in the room every day and throughout the stay. I had to request every day ' Can I have water please?' Water is nothing and at this particular place would make great impact * Lack of ample space inside the rooms it needs more ' clever ideas' about storage areas. especially in the shower please install another metallic shelve for personal toiletries . The same can be done next to the mirror. I could not take all my toiletries outside my bags * I didn't like the fact that I was not given a king bed but two twin beds put together. This annoys me in general and the hotel that provides a proper king bed takes my 10 stars. * Personally I found mattress uncomfortable. The matress in such accomodation should be of supeior quality * The breakfast terrace should be cleaned every monrning with water. In my four days stays It was not cleaned a single day. * Last but not least - actually one of the most important things in hospitality. The issue ' TOWELS'. The towels were worn out, old and inconsistent in terms of brands. This is not a minor details. Towels shall be examined and if old shall be replaced with new and of good quality. I'd like to give 5 stars however there is room for improvement in small details. I would return back if I knew that rooms are refurbished and particular facilities are upgraded.

This is just the most stunning location imaginable. Highly recommended if you can deal with the steps that must be negotiated after the lift has done the really hard work of getting you up from the ground level. Service is really friendly and very efficient. The rooms are comfortable - smallish and basic with a great bed. The outside seated area is magnificent - rarely would views be bettered. Restaurant is very formal - a must try. The kitchen garden is fabulous.

Absolutely stunning - the location was breath taking! Staying in the hotel was one of the highlights of my trip. Beautiful views and a wonderful historic building. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The outside areas and gardens were a wonderful place to relax and watch the sun go down. The breakfast was also excellent. I hope to return.

This place is incredible! What an experience, high above the sea overlooking Ischia. The interiors and the view is second to none…loved our stay in these medieval surroundings. Having breakfast on the terrace was our highlight. we will definitely be back!

Ischia, Castello Aragonese. Here, within the walls of the island's imposing Aragon castle, lies the former Monastery of S. Maria della Consolazione, which today houses Albergo Il Monastero. A hotel in which to experience not only Ischia's thermal water and the sea, but the history of the island too.

From the terraces, the view extends from the village of Ischia Ponte to the foot of the castle, and the port of Ischia, from where to board boats to the nearby island of Procida, Naples, Pozzuoli and, during the summer, Sorrento, Capri and the towns of the Amalfi Coast.
